Tauranga Rowers take Silver at National Regatta

March 2021

After a disappointing cancellation due to Covid-19 in 2020, the Aon Maadi Cup was back with a vengeance in March. This event is the National Championships for secondary school rowing in New Zealand and is our biggest rowing regatta. Six days of rowing on Lake Karapiro with teams from 123 schools makes for some pretty tough competition, but our Adams Academy athletes were up to the challenge.

Harrison McGregor and Emma Averill competed in the double and single sculls and both came away with silver medals. Harrison and his teammate fought hard in the Boys U18 Novice Double Sculls for their second-place time. Meanwhile, Emma had an even busier week – coming second in her Girls U17 Single Sculls and Girls U17 Double Sculls races.

We couldn’t be prouder of the hard work our athletes have put into their training and are so happy to see them achieving such awesome results.
