Adams Academy Athlete of the Year: Ana Moceyawa

December 2020

The annual Adams Academy prizegiving took place on December 11th and was a fantastic evening spent celebrating the achievements of our athletes this year. Wrestler Ana Moceyawa was awarded Adams Academy Athlete of the Year for an outstanding commitment to her sport in 2020.

Ana trains multiple times per day, week on week. She is a frequent user of our high performance gym and is an accomplished sportswoman in three different codes. Not only is she a wrestler, Ana is also heavily involved in both Jiu-Jitsu and Judo in New Zealand.

Earlier this year Ana travelled to Morocco for the wrestling Olympic qualifier which was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19 soon after she arrived. After this setback she returned to New Zealand just in time to go into Level 4 lockdown. But Ana didn’t let these obstacles halt her progress. She continued to train through lockdown and in October this year won the gold medal in her weight category at the New Zealand Wrestling national champs.

She now has her sights set on qualifying for the 2022 Commonwealth games and we can’t think of a better representative for the Adams Academy than this incredibly dedicated and talented athlete.
